Scottish Spieltenor Seumas Begg is a graduate of both the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and is an alumnus of Garsington Opera Alverez Young Artist Programme.

A versatile performer who has covered a broad range of character repertory, his credits include Flute A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova); Mormon/Housemate in the World Premiere of Last Days and cover Pang Turandot (Royal Opera House); John Yoo The New Prince (Dutch National Opera); Gherardo Gianni Schicchi (Teatro Communale Treviso); Pony Express Rider La Fanciulla del West and Mendel Fiddler on the Roof (Grange Park Opera); Max Fantasio, Ein Tierhaendler and Kellner 1 Der Rosenkavalier (Garsington Opera); Raoul de St. Brioche The Merry Widow, Goro Madama Butterfly and Fenton Falstaff (Opera Bohemia); and Elijah in the world premiere of Navigate the Blood (NOISE). He also recently made his debut as Gloucester, Jamy and Grey in the Donmar Warehouse production of Henry V, which was broadcast internationally as part of National Theatre live season. Subsequent roles in his repertoire include Brighella Ariadne auf Naxos, Ein Soldat Kaiser von Atlantis, Monostatos Die Zauberflöte, M. Lacouf Les mamelles de Tirésias, Spoletta Tosca; Gastone La Traviata, Sailor Dido and Aeneas, and Lippo Fiorentino Street Scene.

Current engagements include his house debut as Flute A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Royal Opera House Oman); covers Pang Turandot and the Young Servant Elektra (Royal Opera House); Mozart Requiem (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra); and he records the role of The Islesman in The Seal-Woman (Orchestra of Scottish Opera/Retrospect Opera).

He will return to the Royal Opera House for several projects in the 24/25 season.
