Vienna based Chilean bass-baritone Pablo Santa Cruz is current member of the Volksoper Wien ensemble. Recipient of the Österreichischer Musiktheaterpreis for Bester Nachwuchs, he has quickly established himself within Austria’s operatic landscape as an artist to watch.

Santa Cruz has developed a rich and varied repertoire spanning lyric, comic, and dramatic bass-baritone roles; in the coming season at the Volkoper Wien he makes his debut as the Four Villains in Offenbach's Les Contes d’Hoffmann and will return to the roles of Guglielmo Così fan tutte, Schaunard La bohème, Peter Hänsel und Gretel and Sprecher Die Zauberflöte.
Other recent performances include Escamillo Carmen, Dr. Cajus Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Peter Hänsel und Gretel, Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo Così fan tutte, Schaunard La bohème, Sprecher Die Zauberflöte, Dancaïro Carmen, Rambaldo La rondine, Erster Nazarener Salome, Don Magnifico La Cenerentola and Frank Die Fledermaus(Volksoper Wien); Masetto Don Giovanni and Colline La bohème (Teatro Municipal de Santiago); the title role in Verdi's Falstaff and Dulcamara L'elisir d'amore (Teatro Regional Lucho Gatica) with conductors and directors including Omer Meir Wellber, Paolo Bortolameolli, Alexander Joel, Ben Glassberg, and Lotte de Beer.
Santa Cruz is an alumnus of the Fundación Ibáñez Atkinson Young Artist Program, and the Volksoper Wien Opernstudio.
