Regarded as a rising star of the operatic stage, tenor Jihoon Son has been praised for his unique vocal agility and thrilling high notes. Born in Seoul, he began his musical studies at the Korean National University of Arts, and later at the Theaterakademie August Everding and the Hochschule für musik und theater München.

Winner of the Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition, the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition, and the Gian Battista Viotti International Music Competition, Jihoon’s highlights include Lord Arturo I Puritani, Arnold Melchtal Guillaume Tell, Lindoro L’Italiana in Algeri, Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Ramiro La Cenerentola, Beppe Rita, Conte Alberto L’occasione fa il ladro, the Italian Tenor Der Rosenkavalier, Nemorino L’elisir D’amore and Alfredo La Traviata with companies including Opera Oviedo, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Mariinsky Theatre, Bolshoi Theatre, Korean National Opera, Neue Oper Freiburg, Prinzregententheater Munich, Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra Hungary, Münchner Rundfunkorchester, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under the musical direction of conductors such as Valery Gergiev; Patrick Hahn, Ivan Repušić, and Christian Jost.
