The 2017/18 season sees Ms. Flavin make her Austrian debut as Contessa d’Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Salzburger Landestheater); her company debut as Contessa d’Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Irish National Opera); perform the role of Hannah in the World Premiere of The Second Violinist (Wide Open Opera); Opera Highlights Tour (Scottish Opera); Mimi La bohème (Cork International Opera Series); and Mozart Requiem & Once upon a Dream: Celebrating Disney (RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra). Further ahead she will make her role debut as Anna Sørensen in the British Premiere of Kevin Puts Silent Night, and her role debut as Hanna Glawari The Merry Widow both for Opera North; she also returns to the role of Hannah in The Second Violinist, which will make its British premiere at the Barbican, London, and at the Dutch National Opera.

Previous engagements have seen her make several role and company debuts, garnering high critical acclaim for her interpretation of Fiordiligi Così fan tutte for Opera North (“…the real discovery is the Irish soprano Máire Flavin, who is resplendent as Fiordiligi…..Flavin has a perfectly proportioned Mozartian voice, with a glittering upper register that suggests she may be the next singer ready to graduate to greater things.” - The Guardian); Mimi La bohème and Donna Anna Don Giovanni (Opera Theatre Company/Irish National Opera); the title role Agrippina (Opera Northern Ireland/Irish Youth Opera/Irish Chamber Orchestra); Violetta La Traviata; and roles with with Théâtre des Champs Elysées; Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Glyndebourne on Tour; Welsh National Opera; Scottish Opera; Northern Ireland Opera; the Cork Summer International Festival; and in Singapore, with conductors such as Mark Wigglesworth, Nathalie Stutzmann, Lothar Koenig, Jac van Steen, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Alan Buribayev, John Wilson, Jonathan Cohen and Christoph Poppen.

On the concert platform she has performed Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, Berlioz Les Nuits d’été, and Viennese Gala Concerts (RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra); Mahler’s 8th Symphony (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra/Royal Albert Hall); Hamilton Harty’s Children of Lir, Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, Mozart Requiem, and an at the Summer Lunch Time Series (RTÉ Concert Orchestra); Mozart Requiem (Orchestra of Welsh National Opera); Handel’s Messiah (St. Patricks Cathedral, Dublin); and Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony (Deutsche Philharmonie). An avid performer of song, she has appeared in recital with Simon Lepper, Gary Matthewman, and Nico de Villiers internationally.

An alumna of both the Opera Theatre Company and Britten-Pears Young Artist programmes, she studied at Queens University, Belfast; the RIAM; GSMD Opera Course and the National Opera Studio, London.
