Ms. Flavin’s recent and future engagements include her role and company debut as Bianca in the World Premiere of La Cucina (Wexford Festival Opera); Contessa d’Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Opera North); Standford’s Requiem, and a New Years Day Opera Gala concert with Atalla Ayan under the baton of Rumon Gamba (RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra). Further ahead she will make her role debut as Mathilde in Rossini's Guillaume Tell, and sing Hannah The Second Violinist in New York.
Recent operatic engagements have included Anna Sørensen in the British Premiere of Kevin Puts Silent Night, and her role debut as Hanna Glawari The Merry Widow (Opera North); her Austrian debut as Contessa d’Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Salzburger Landestheater); Hannah in the World Premiere of The Second Violinist and Contessa d’Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Irish National Opera); Opera Highlights Tour (Scottish Opera); and Mimi La bohème (Cork International Opera Series). Ms. Flavin has also performed leading roles with companies such as Théâtre des Champs Elysées; Glyndebourne Festival Opera; Glyndebourne on Tour; Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing; Northern Ireland Opera; Opera Collective Ireland; and Welsh National Opera; with conductors such as Mark Wigglesworth, Nathalie Stutzmann, Lothar Koenig, Jac van Steen, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Alan Buribayev, John Wilson, Jonathan Cohen and Christoph Poppen.
On the concert platform she has performed Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, Berlioz Les Nuits d’été, and Viennese Gala Concerts (RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra); Mahler’s 8th Symphony (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra/Royal Albert Hall); Hamilton Harty’s Children of Lir and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella (RTÉ Concert Orchestra); Mozart Requiem (Orchestra of Welsh National Opera/RTÉ Concert Orchestra/RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra); Once upon a Dream: Celebrating Disney (RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra); and Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony (Deutsche Philharmonie). An avid performer of song, she has appeared in recital with Simon Lepper, Gary Matthewman, and Nico de Villiers internationally.
An alumna of both the Opera Theatre Company and Britten-Pears Young Artist programmes, she studied at Queens University, Belfast; the RIAM; GSMD Opera Course and the National Opera Studio, London.
