International Opera Award bursary recipient, British mezzo-soprano Laura Woods studied at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and is an alumna of English National Opera’s Opera Works.

Nominated for ‘Best female in a supporting role’ for the role of Wowkle La Fanciulla del West for Opera Holland Park, Ms. Woods’ engagements include Polina Pique Dame for which the Times wrote “Laura Woods's ripe Polina has a chocolatey mezzo to die for….”, Marta Iolanta, Flora La Traviata, Giovanna Rigoletto, Agnes the Digger Fantastic Mr Fox, La Suora Zelatrice Suor Angelica, Zita Gianni Schicchi, and Glaša Kát’a Kabanová (Opera Holland Park); Leonora La Favorita (Bangkok Opera); Mistress Quickly Falstaff (Opéra Berbiguières); Florence Pike Albert Herring (British Youth Opera); The Witch in the world premiere of Mad King Suibhne (Bury Court Opera); and Sis/Wife in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Greek directed by Jonathan Moore.
Recent and forthcoming engagements see Ms. Woods joins the roster of Scottish Opera and English National Opera and returns to Opera Holland Park.
