A Britten-Pears alumnus, British soprano Jennifer Witton studied on the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she was a Miriam Licette Scholar, and winner of the prestigious Gold Medal Prize.

A vivacious and engaging performer Jennifer made her role début as Ortlinde in Die Walküre conducted by Martyn Brabbins at the St. Endillion Festival, where she also performed a recital of French song with Iain Burnside. Recent highlights include covering the roles of ‘Donna’ in Handel’s Rinaldo, and Chocholka The Cunning Little Vixen (Glyndebourne Festival Opera); cover Euridice/La Musica, and ensemble in Monteverdi’s Orfeo (Royal Opera House); Rosa in the world première of Isabella, (Royal Opera House and GSMD); Anna 1 in Kurt Weil’s Die Sieben Todsünden, Lucia The Rape of Lucretia, Eleonora in Wolf-Ferrai’s Le donne curiose, and Aphrodite in Henze’s Phaedra (GSMD); the Page in Chabrier’s Le Roi Malgré Lui (Wexford Festival Opera); understudy soprano soloist in the UK tour of ‘One Night in Vienna’ with the Johann Strauss Orchestra (Raymond Gubbay); Fleury La Rondine (Opera di Peroni); and Juno in The Tempest (Royal Shakespeare Company).

Winner of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Aria competition, Jennifer is active in both concert and recital, and her repertoire encompasses a wide range of genres, recent performances include Schumann’s Spanisches Liederspiel at St. Martin in the Fields with Graham Johnson, The Royal Celebration Banquet at the Guildhall Town Hall, London, Ravel’s Cinq Mélodies Populaires Grecques, Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch, the première of Peter Foggitt’s ‘Genesis’, Handel’s Messiah and Samson, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Requiem’s by Brahms, Fauré and Mozart.  She has performed under the baton of many international conductors including Sir Mark Elder, William Christie, Martyn Brabbins, Ottavio Dantone, James Gaffigan, Paolo Olmi, David Afkam, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Omer Meir Wellber, and Jean-Luc Tinguard.
