Emma Brunton | Storm Scene | La Cenerentola

Splitting her time between opera and dance, Emma’s recent projects have included Movement Director for a new co-production of La Cenerentola (Opera Holland Park & Danish National Opera); Puppetry Director The Christmasaurus Live (Tom Fletcher/Hammersmith Apollo); Associate Choreographer The Soldier’s Tale (ROH/Japan), The Wind in the Willows at the Vaudeville Theatre, London; Assistant Choreographer for Elizabeth (Royal Ballet/Libury Studio & Royal Naval College), a new production of Pinocchio (National Ballet of Canada), the world première of Secret Garden (Sarasota Ballet), Grimaldi (Royal Shakespeare Company), ‘Singing through puppets’ A Midsummer Nights Dream (Chroma), and an Alice in Wonderland evening (Royal Opera House Paul Hamlyn Hall).

Further projects include, as a Choreographer, Boris & Sergey II Perilous Escapade (Pleasance Courtyard), and Pages (The Pacific Playhouse); as Associate Choreographer, West Side Story (The Sage, Gateshead); as Assistant Director/Choreographer, Faeries, The Thief of Baghdad (ROH), Pleasure’s Progress (ROH; Dance East; Latitude Festival; The Lowry Theatre); as Assistant Choreographer, The Wind in the Willows (ROH & Duchess Theatre), Elizabeth (Royal Opera House Linbury Studio), Van Clef & Arpels (ROH/Buckingham Palace), Street Dance 3D (Vertigo Films), The Gala Concert (Sony BMG); and as Assistant Director, Hansel & Gretel (Iford Arts Festival).

As a performer she has extensive experience in ballet and contemporary dance, as well as working in aerial dance, as acrobat and trapeze artist, and in Bunraku puppetry. Previous highlights include Acrobat La Rondine (Royal Opera House), the Title role/Puppeteer/Dancer Crane Maiden (Kanagawa Arts Theatre, Japan); Dancer Otello, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Die Fledermaus (Glyndebourne Festival Opera); Dancer Fairy queen (English National Opera; Gran Teatro del Liceu, Barcelona); Rabbit/Weasel The Wind in the Willows, and Cat Pinocchio (Royal Opera House Linbury Studio); Dancer The Nutcracker and Cinderella (Scottish Ballet); Folk & Cossack Dancer Tziganka (Heart of the Jester, UK Tour), Aerialist/Contemporary Dancer Ijad (UK Tour), Aerialist/Dancer Masque (Decca Records), Puppeteer/Actor Sitting Room Circus (Dance East & The Roundhouse); Dancer/Puppeteer/Actor Faeries (Royal Opera House; The Egg, Bath); and as Trapeze Artists/Aerialist/Dancer Madame Pain’s Boudoir Circus, and Aerialist/Dancer The Love Pet (Hanger Arts Trust). In film and TV she has featured in Rufus Norris’s London Road (Cuba Pictures), Bridgette Jones Diary (Working Title), The Baftas, Tess of the D’Urbervilles (LWT), Trigger Happy TV (Channel 4), and various pop videos for MTV.
